companies to form an organization of six subsidiaries and divisions. These organizations produce a complete line of flexible tubular products that meet the needs of diverse industries ranging from scientific research to oil refining.

Hyspan’s headquarters in Chula Vista, California provides financial services, corporate management and corporate engineering for all locations; and the administration of the employees retirement program. This is also the location of the sales and engineering staff for Hyspan and Barco products, and the facility that manufactures custom designed expansion joints, prototype bellows products, and all defense products. In addition to the Hyspan products, Anaconda and Flexible Metal Inc. products are manufactured at this location for replacement requirements.

The Universal Hose & Braid subsidiary located in Chicago, Illinois was founded in 1942, and purchased by Hyspan in 1995. In 2000 Anamet Industrial Inc., formally Anaconda Metal Hose in Waterbury, Connecticut, was purchased; and the Anaconda hose products were combined with Universal to form a complete line of corrugated and strip wound metal hose products. Universal is headquartered in South Holland, Illinois. In addition to the sales and engineering office, this location manufacturers corrugated and strip wound hose and assemblies for industrial and automotive applications.

In 1998 Hyspan formed a wholly owned subsidiary, Hyspan de Mexico, located near Tijuana, Mexico. The company is classified as a maquiladora manufacturing plant which permits raw material and conponent parts to be transferred to and from the plant on a duty free basis, and qualifies the plant’s products under NAFTA. Hyspan de Mexico has complete bellows fabrication, machining, welding and testing capability. High volume products for all Hyspan divisions and subsidiaries are manufactured by Hyspan de Mexico.

In 2004 Hyspan purchased Flexible Metal Inc., formally Flexible Metal Hose in Tucker, Georgia. Flexible Metal Inc. is an established manufacturer of metal hose and expansion joints, and original equipment flexible assemblies for off highway and automotive applications. The metal hose and expansion joint products have been combined with Universal and Hyspan, allowing Flexible Metal to specialize in the OEM products. The company has extensive engineering capability with complete fabrication facilities including bellows hydroforming and cell manufacturing processes.

Hyspan is a member of the Expansion Joint Manufacturers Assocation, Inc. (EJMA), an organization devoted to the development of design methods for metal bellows and related products. As a member Hyspan joins with other companies to share analytical and test results to advance the knowledge of metal bellows and related products.
