Flexible Metal Inc. (FMI) was founded in 1954 as Flexible Metal Hose, and the company has been continuously engaged in manufacturing of metal bellows and hose, and products incorporating these components. Hyspan purchased the stock of FMI in November 2004, and the company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary incorporated in Georgia. In 2010, the Tubular Products division of the Metaldyne Corporation located in Hamburg, Michigan was purchased and merged with FMI. The company maintains engineering and productions at both locations.

Flexible Metal Inc. designs and manufacturers flexible tubing assemblies for the engine and chassis of automotive, truck and off highway equipment. These components include:

Turbo oil drain lines
Turbo exhaust bellows assemblies
Engine exhaust bellows
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tubes EGR bellows assemblies
Charge air ducts and sound attenuators
Tubular exhaust manifolds


FMI employs advanced design software including computer aided design, three dimensional modeling, and structural and thermal finite element analyses. This analytical capability is combined with complete prototype fabrication capability and development testing facilities.

Manufacturing facilities include high volume bellows hydroforming, CNC tube bending, tube mills, and robotic welding and brazing. These capabilities and others are organized into manufacturing cells specializing in tubular assemblies.

Flexible Metal Inc. is ISO 9001 and TS 16949 registered, and projects are managed in accordance with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
